Neil deGrasse Tyson talks about the existence of God

“If you were certain there was a GOD, you wouldn’t call it FAITH.”

It seems that in recent times, more and more scientists have come forward speaking about God and what they believe about a ‘superior being’ who created EVERYTHING.

Even though science and religion have never gotten along, when Neil deGrasse Tyson wants to tell us his latest opinion about God, it’s time to pay attention.

In addition to Michio Kaku, Stephen Hawking, and other scientists, Neil deGrasse Tyson has taken some time to speak about God as well.

Recently, the Business Insider published a new video of the series ‘Neil deGrasse Tyson Explains Everything’, where the controversial astrophysicist referred to the existence of God.

“There’s an actual absence of BENEVOLENCE in the actual UNIVERSE that I see.”

Tyson explained that since the human race became the dominant species on Earth, there have been gods for everything, forming over the centuries a large list of deities.

For obvious reasons, he asserted that he was not convinced whether God exists or not, but explained that not even his most stubborn followers are, arguing that the same use of the word faith – defined as “personal belief and hope in the existence of a superior being “- denotes this doubt.

“You can be certain within your own person, and then that’s a kind of personal truth, and in a free, pluralistic society, your thoughts are protected. You think what you want. That’s what it means to live in a free society,” said Tyson.

The astrophysicist also added that the lack of benevolence in the universe, starting from the entropic principle of it, always becomes a point of discussion between scientists and religious, since one contradicts the other from its main bases.

Interestingly, this is not the first time that the astrophysicist refers to the subject. However, his opinion continues to arouse different reactions between those who read or listen.

However, contrary to the comments made by Tyson, Michio Kaku – a theoretical physicist at the City College of New York and known as one of the developers of the revolutionary String Theory— also referred to God saying that:

“I have concluded that we are in a world made by rules created by intelligence. Believe me, everything that we call chance today won’t make sense anymore. To me, it is clear that we exist in a plan which is governed by rules that were created, shaped by a universal intelligence and not by chance. The final solution resolution could be that God is a mathematician. The mind of God, we believe, is cosmic music, the music of strings resonating through 11-dimensional hyperspace.”
